Wafa Alshaer

My name is Wafa Alshaer. I was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1969.

My beginnings in art were from a young age. I used to doodle on everything — papers, notebooks, books, even on the walls of the house.

One of the first fans I had was the art teacher in elementary school. She praised my drawings, which was a big encouragement for me as a child. My father was my biggest supporter; he was an artist of another kind — a playwright and an author.

I attended a few classes in the US when I was living there.

I believe that being an artist is something one is born to do. It comes from within and is influenced by external factors such as environment, family, and education.
